This policy explains what personal information chriswalker.io collects, why, and what you can do about it. chriswalker.io is the personal website of Christopher Walker. It is operated by Monthlees ("we", "us").
What we collect
When you sign up for email. If you join Notes from Christopher, The Nutrient Code waitlist, or ask for a download, we collect your email address, the form you used, the list you joined, and when you confirmed. Every list is double opt-in: nothing is sent to you until you click the link in the confirmation email.
When you read an email. Our emails use standard open and click measurement: a small image that records when an email is opened, and links that record which link was clicked. We use this to see which emails are useful and to stop emailing people who no longer read them.
When you visit the site. Our servers process your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. The sign-up form limits repeated submissions using a one-way hash of your IP address, held in memory and never stored. Server logs are kept for a short time for security and troubleshooting.
What we do not collect. chriswalker.io runs no analytics or advertising trackers, sells nothing, and has no user accounts. We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information.
How we use it
- To send the emails you asked for, and only those. Each list has its own purpose: the newsletter, The Nutrient Code waitlist, or a download you requested. Joining one does not add you to another unless you tick that box.
- To confirm your subscription, honour unsubscribes, and suppress addresses that bounce or report spam.
- To keep the site secure and working.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Who processes it
- Email. Our email platform (ESP3) runs on our own server, hosted by DigitalOcean in the United States. Emails are delivered through Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES) in the United States.
- Hosting. The website is hosted by DigitalOcean in the United States.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of others.
- Business transfers. If the operator of this site is reorganised, merged or sold, the information may transfer with it under this policy.
We do not sell or rent personal information.
Cookies and browser storage
See the cookie policy. In short: one first-party cookie, set only after you subscribe, and no tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address while you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep a minimal record that you did, so that we never email you again by mistake. Addresses that bounce or report spam are suppressed the same way.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every email. It works in one click.
- Preferences. Every email links to a preference page where you can leave individual lists.
- Access, correction, deletion. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information. Email notes@chriswalker.io. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
Children
chriswalker.io is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
International visitors
Your information is processed in the United States, where data protection law may differ from the law where you live.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards. No system is completely secure.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date on this page. Material changes will be announced on the site or by email.
