How content is researched
Claims about health are checked against primary research wherever it exists, and against official reference sources where it does not.
Primary and secondary sources
Primary sources (studies, reference intakes, official fact sheets) are cited first. Secondary sources are used for context and marked as such.
Citations
Numbered references sit at the end of each piece, with the DOI or PubMed ID where one exists.
Updating
Pages show both the original date and the date of the last material update. Small copy edits do not change the updated date.
Corrections
Errors of fact are corrected and noted on the page, with the date. See the corrections page.
